Jack Shand, CAE, CMC – Executive Partner – Leadership Consulting and Search
Jack Shand is an Executive Partner of The Portage Group focusing on leadership consulting, strategic planning and executive search practice. Jack is passionate about the people aspect of not-for-profit organizations and has worked with over 100 organizations to provide leadership development and executive search support.
In addition to supporting hundreds of not-for-profit organizations in a consulting role, Jack has many years’ experience in hands-on association management for organizations that include the Canadian Society of Association Executives where he was President from 1986 to 1996.
In addition to celebrating life with friends and family, Jack relaxes on, in or by the water, cheering on his favourite hockey team, and travel (the warmer and sunnier, the better). He has been a committed volunteer for and supports causes including those committed to animal welfare, human rights and health.
Geoffrey Thacker, BComm. Executive Partner – Research and Strategy
Geoffrey Thacker is an Executive Partner of The Portage Group and is a market research professional with unparalleled experience conducting research designed specifically for the needs of not-for-profit organizations. Having worked on approximately two hundred research projects for organizations of all kinds, he is respected among his peers and clients for delivering quality research solutions that drive decision-making.
Geoff is located in Ottawa where he is a member of the Market Research Intelligence Association and active volunteer with the Canadian Society of Association Executives Ottawa-Gatineau Chapter. In his spare time he enjoys camping with his family, hitting the trails on his mountain bike and playing hockey.
Carol-Anne Moutinho, MBA – Senior Consultant
With over ten years’ research and planning experience for not-for-profit sector organizations, Carol-Anne is a valuable asset to the The Portage Group team. She supports and leads projects from across service lines and also heads up the firm’s marketing and social media initiatives.
Having worked on projects that range from member and stakeholder research and industry benchmarking to strategic planning and organizational development, Carol-Anne is truly in-tune with the realities of today’s not-for-profit sector.
Carol-Anne volunteers on the boards for the Canadian Society of Association Executives of BC. When she’s not working or chasing after her two sons in Victoria, takes advantage of her beautiful surroundings by skiing, surfing, mountain biking and running as much as possible.
Steven Carroll, CAE – Independent Associate
Steve is an experienced and accomplished association executive with a track record of success and a passion for association management. Through effective management of relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, strong financial acumen and implementation of new revenue streams, Steve has helped associations achieve and exceed their strategic goals.
Steve is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and an active member of the Canadian Society of Association Executives. He currently serves as the President of the Trillium Chapter of CSAE. He also served as President of the BC Chapter of the CSAE and led the chapter to a Chapter of the Year award while serving as its President.
Carroll has combined a love of sport and recreation with business administration skills and professional development to build a very successful and accomplished career as an association executive and sport administrator. Married to Ann Carroll, a PGA of Canada golf professional and high performance golf coach for Golf Canada’s women’s national team, Steve, his wife Ann and two sons Justin and Jackson reside in Mississauga, Ontario.
